SGIT School of Management
BCA provides understanding and skills related to the use of computer and its applications. The basic objective of the programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students, who have done 10+2 and are interested in taking computing as a career.
Programme Educational Objective
At SEG School of Management, faculty is chosen with great care keeping in mind the diversity of the programme. Ample computer time is made available to the students in the well-equipped computer labs to do practical work. The distinguishing feature of BCA programme at ESG SOM is state of the art physical infrastructure, experienced faculty drawn from academics and industry, emphasis on live projects, software knowledge, technical activities and projects, languages and programming etc., Wi Fi enabled internet access on campus. We provide you a platform to explore endless opportunities for stepping into further studies and research.
The minimum period required for completion of programme is 3 years (6 semesters). The programme is divided in six semesters. An academic year shall be apportioned into two semesters. Each of the two semesters shall be of working duration of about 21 weeks as per the following breakup.
- Teaching : 17 Weeks
- Preparatory Leaves : 01 weeks
- Semester End Examination (including Practical) : 03 weeks
Note: There shall be a break of 2 weeks after every odd semester and vacation of approximately 6 weeks after even semester.
Approval & Affiliation
The three-year BCA programme being run at SGIT School of Management is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The norms and standards for the delivery of the course – as laid down by the GGSIP University – are followed at the Institute. The BCA College Programme is divided into six semesters duration. Each semester comprises of five theory subjects and three practical subjects.
Pass in 12th Class of 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate* with pass in English (core or elective or functional) and Mathematics or Computer Science / Informatics Practice / Computer Applications / Multimedia & Web Technology / Data Management Application / Web Application. OR Three year Diploma in a branch of Engineering from a polytechnic duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education and affiliated to a recognized examining body with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
Intake and Reservation of Seat
This course run in two-shifts each having intake of 60 each. The existing reservation policy stipulates 10% seats as “Management Quota Seats”. Out of the remaining 90% , 85% are reserved for Delhi candidates and 15% for outside Delhi candidates. Further reservation for specific categories shall be as per the guidelines of Government of NCT of Delhi.
University Conducted CET:
The admissions are carried out strictly on merit basis through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The IP University conducts central counselling for all the colleges affiliated with it for 90% seats except for management quota seats. Students are required to choose the college/institute during the counselling. For application forms the students are to respond to the advertisement by the University or its website http://www.ggsipu.nic.in
Eligibility and Admission Criteria
Pass in class of 10+2 of CBSE or Intermediate or equivalent with a minimum of 50% m arks in aggregate with English (core or elective or functional) and Mathematics or Computer Science/ informatics practice/Computer applications.
Three year diploma in a branch of engineering from polytechnic approved by All India Council for technical education and affiliated to a recognized examining body with a minimum of 50% aggregate. Candidates applying for Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) will have to fill Common Entrance Test (CET) in the month of February-March every year conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi. Based on merit in Common Entrance Test (CET) in the months of April & May students are admitted to the programme through Common Counseling Session.
